Benfica forward Darwin Nunez has emerged as one of European football’s top players prior to the transfer window. Manchester United are one of several clubs that could be interested in the player.
Nunez, who recorded 28 goals across 33 games this season, has departed his agent Edgardo Lasalvia, after being speculated to join the super-agent Jorge Mendes ‘ array of talents.
Confirming the news, the 22-year-old tweeted:
“I want to clarify that I will not renew my contract with my representative Edgardo Lasalvia. I also want to clarify that neither my family nor I have received any threats [to remain with Lasalvia] and we are fine.”
Not just a goal scorer, the nine-time international has the ability to provide opportunities for his teammates through his dribbling skills that are abrasive in either direction of the forward line. His diverse skills have attracted clubs from across the world.
United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has admitted that his team should be looking for a centre forward this summer to replace outgoing Edinson Cavani, Nunez’s Uruguay teammate – and to support Cristiano Ronaldo who could also leave at the end of the season.
