Ahead of the World Cup draw today, Louis van Gaal made headlines this week when asked about Erik ten Hag’s links to the Man United job and as expected, he warned the Ajax manager about taking the Utd job.
Erik ten Hag is the current favourite to land the Manchester United job after an interview last week with the club, with The Times reporting he impressed in the interview with the Manchester United board.
However, Utd’s former boss, Louis van Gaal has warned Ten Hag to stay far away from taking the job at Old Trafford and labelled the club as a commercial club rather than a football club.
“Erik ten Hag is a great coach, and that is always good for Manchester United,” Van Gaal said. “But Manchester United are a commercial club, so it’s a difficult choice for a coach. He’d better go to a football club. I’m not going to advise him, he’ll call me himself. But he must choose a football club and not a commercial club.”

Van Gaal has been in line with his opinions on United since he left the club. Van Gaal felt aggrieved at being dismissed following his FA Cup final triumph and he hasn’t been afraid to criticize United whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Ajax manager Erik ten Hag is the CLEAR favourite to be Manchester United’s manager’. There is a second as well as a final interview set in the hope that Manchester United FINALLY closes in on a long-term successor for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
