There could be a new captain at Manchester United next season as reports have emerged that Erik Ten Hag will want to select his own leader when he takes over the club this summer.
Maguire has been under fire for his efforts thus far in the 2021-22 season, but interim boss Ralf Rangnick has stated that he would retain the armband for the rest of the season.
According to a report by Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag would like to appoint his own captain next season which would likely see Harry Maguire lose the armband with Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes being the most likely candidates.
Maguire has appeared in 34 matches across all competitions this season, scoring two goals but also coming under fire for some sloppy defensive displays which have seen fans grow tired of him.
Man United, on the other hand, are rumoured to be interested in signing a new centre-back during the forthcoming transfer window, with Ten Hag shaping the team according to his own vision.
